Risks and limits

Read this before you use real funds. Nothing on this site calls anything safe.

New contracts

These contracts are new. They have tests, including hostile-token and invariant tests, and the source is open, but that is not proof they are free of bugs. There is no admin who could stop, fix or rescue anything, which also means nobody can help if something goes wrong.

Tokens can stop

Tokens on this chain can block addresses or pause, and stock tokens do. Their issuer can also burn from an address.

  • On the desk, nothing is held, so a block just makes a fill revert. What you already received stays in your wallet, and if your address is then blocked it can be stuck there.
  • In the council, locked $ORBU is held by the contract for its staker. If the token ever blocked the contract or your address, your withdrawal would fail until that changed. Your credit stays on the books and there is no other way out.
  • Tokens sent to the council or the desk by plain transfer are credited to nobody, and nothing can return them.

What you sign

  • A signed order stays fillable until it expires, is filled, or you end it. Deleting it in your browser does not end it.
  • Anyone holding the link can read it. Without a named taker or an allowlist, anyone holding it can fill it.
  • Approvals are for the exact amount by default. An approval to the desk lets it move that amount only for an order you signed or posted.
  • A taker sets no minimum size, so another fill landing first makes yours smaller at the same price. The order page shows what you expected and what really moved.
  • Orders use fixed raw amounts. A split or other corporate action on a stock token can misprice a long-lived order, so keep expiries short and cancel when one is announced.
  • Raising your nonce only ends orders below the new minimum shown before you sign. An order with a higher nonce, from a device whose clock runs ahead or made by hand, survives. Cancel it, or revoke your allowance to the desk.
  • Whatever is on chain is public: your address, tokens, amounts and timing. OTC here is not private.

What checks cannot tell

A simulation shows what would have happened on the block it read. A check says what a token answered at that moment. Neither says a token is worth anything, that a price is fair, or who is behind the other wallet.

Questions

Does $ORBU pay anything?

No. Locking gives vote weight only. Orbu has no protocol fee to share. $ORBU is a memecoin with a planned governance use and no promised value.

Can governance take my tokens?

The council has no function that could. Check _apply in OrbuCouncil.sol: it can only call three roster functions.

Can a maker change the price after I read it?

No. Any change to a signed field breaks the signature. A maker can cancel at any time, so your fill may revert.

Is this financial advice?

No.

The OTC deskA signature, a link, then one call that moves both sides.
